            Fine Arts

Whether it’s singing at Assembly in Kindergarten, playing fiddle tunes with the Strings class, or submitting a portfolio for Advanced Placement Art, Academy students are all engaged in meaningful artistic pursuits. Since the founding of our school in 1992, Academy’s commitment to the arts has been exceptionally strong and unique. Our nine fine arts teachers serve students with professional-level instruction in each artistic discipline: all five music teachers perform professionally outside of school, our Upper Division Theater teacher is an award-winning director, actor, and costumer for the Jobsite Theater (in residence at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center), the leader of our video production program continues to have a distinguished career in the television and recording industries, and our art teachers have had works displayed in shows throughout the Southeast. The professional level of our teachers gives our students unique opportunities to work with teachers they can see perform on the very best stages in the Tampa Bay area. All of these professionals have a distinct passion to share their talents with the young people in their care, and their boundless enthusiasm for their artistic disciplines are contagious. The Academy is truly committed to the idea that the arts are an essential element in the education of our students. The arts are very much alive at Academy at the Lakes!
