Welcome to our website and to a brief glimpse of the Academy at the Lakes community. We hope that the information we share in these pages will give you a sense of our community’s strong spirit, values, and vision.
We take the notion of community very seriously at the Academy, and we firmly believe that relationships are at the very core of everything we do. At Academy at the Lakes we work hard to build the kind of caring relationships that help each student reach the goals stated in our mission, success “at school, in the community, and in the world.” At our school, we truly celebrate the love of learning and the joy in the journey.
The diversity of offerings in our Upper Division program prepares students for college. And in doing so, it further helps them to find their authentic selves, their passion, and their significance in the world. From Mandarin Chinese to Advanced Placement classes in all academic areas, Academy’s range offers each student opportunities that engage and inspire.
Significant experiences in the arts and athletics abound at the Academy. And since we firmly believe that one cannot live a happy and meaningful life wrapped up entirely in their own needs and desires, we have built a vibrant community service program that brings students beyond the gates of our campus to do for others. Through service trips to help hurricane victims rebuild to building homes for Habitat for Humanity to an ongoing service relationship with a migrant workers’ mission in the rural part of Hillsborough County, Academy Upper Division students are involved in projects through which they learn an ethic of service through actual experience.
All of our graduates have continued their studies at college, and our college counseling program has helped them to find great matches at colleges and universities from California to Massachusetts. From keeping contact with them we know that the lessons they learned while at the Academy prepared them for more than just college; their Academy experience has truly prepared them for life.
